October gifted them the most beautiful fall day: sunny, clear, warm enough to be comfortable yet crisp enough to feel like true North Shore autumn. The kind of day where the lake sparkles deep blue and the shoreline feels endless.

Siennah and Martin chose Superior Shores because Lake Superior is like a second home for them. It’s where they feel grounded and connected, and where so many of their memories live. Before the ceremony, they shared a first look along the rocky shoreline. It was peaceful, emotional, and grounding, exactly what they needed before stepping into the rest of their day.

They found a quiet spot along the water, tucked between the rocks and evergreens, to read their vows privately. The waves were soft, the breeze gentle, and it felt like the lake held their words for safekeeping. Their ceremony was my favorite part of the day. Simple. Pure. Heartfelt.

Siennah’s sister officiated, which made everything feel incredibly intimate and personal. There were tears, laughter, and so much love woven throughout their words and the stillness of the shoreline.

One of my favorite parts was their symbolic unity moment. Instead of the traditional knot-tying ceremony, they filled a jar with sand from the beach and topped it with Lake Superior agates — a perfect, meaningful touch that reflects their connection to the North Shore.

This is the kind of personalization that makes small weddings so special. When couples bring pieces of their story into the ceremony, it becomes something unforgettable.

Portraits Along the Shore

We stayed close to the property for portraits, exploring the rocky outcroppings and secluded pockets of shoreline. Photographing along Superior Shores is always peaceful, but this day felt especially serene, the bright sun, calm water, and a couple who was fully present with each other.

There wasn’t a rush. No pressure. Just two people in love, soaking in their day as it unfolded naturally.
