Eloping On The Oregon Coast

A peaceful, scenic, dramatic place to say “I do.”

In April 2025, my husband and I flew to the Oregon Coast for the very first time for a photographers Oregon elopement content day through Wilder Workshops. We were drawn in by towering pines, salty air, and the kind of moody beauty the PNW is known for. I’ve always loved tall pines, so the Redwoods have been on my list forever, and finally stepping into them felt surreal. We spent our time wandering through those massive trees, breathing in that cool coastal air, and exploring the wild shoreline near Brookings, OR — a place that feels made for eloping couples who crave both peace and adventure.

It was one of those trips that grounds you. Slow, still, intentional.
The kind of place where vows feel heavier, laughter carries further, and every moment asks you to pause and take it in.

If you’re dreaming of eloping along the Oregon Coast or eloping in the Redwoods — here’s what the experience is really like. 🌲✨

The Locations We Explored

Brookings, Oregon & Northern Redwoods

The Redwoods

Magical. Peaceful. Bigger than life.
Walking between those massive trunks feels like stepping into another world. Light filters through slow and golden, the air smells clean and earthy, and the silence is something you feel. The Redwoods are perfect for:

→ intimate vow exchanges
→ quiet, slow mornings
→ playful portraits under the trees
→ weaving in adventure + stillness

One of my favorite moments here was photographing a couple dancing under the huge trees — twirling, laughing, completely in their own world.

Secret Beach

Secret Beach is exactly what it sounds like — hidden, dramatic, and worth the journey. The hike down is a little steep and requires sure footing, but once you reach the bottom? Ocean spray. Rock formations. Moody blues and greens everywhere you look. If you’re looking for a beach elopement in Oregon with dramatic views, look no further.

It’s perfect for couples who love:

→ ocean cliffs + adventurous terrains
→ dramatic ceremony backdrops
→ foggy, golden, or overcast light
→ barefoot wandering + salty kisses

I captured one of my favorite images here — a “Titanic moment” on the rocks, the ocean crashing behind them. Cinematic and romantic.

Capella By The Sea

If accessibility matters, this location is a dream. Capella by the Sea is small, scenic, simple, and incredibly easy to access — even for guests with mobility restrictions. With a maximum capacity of 49 people, Capella By The Sea is perfect for both micro-weddings and elopements. This space feels intimate and sacred, with sunlight pouring in and nature wrapping around the building like an embrace. This is the perfect small venue for your Oregon micro-wedding or elopement.

If you want a place where family can join your celebration, but you still crave the earthy coastal atmosphere, this is a beautiful option.

Best Time of Day for Ceremonies

Either a sunrise or sunset elopement works beautifully here — truly.

The mornings are soft + quiet, while evenings can paint the cliffs in warm golden light. We witnessed both sunshine and the classic cloudy PNW fog while we were there, and honestly? Each weather shift added to the mood in its own way.

What to Expect When Eloping Here

Eloping here feels peaceful and grounding — the kind of place where time slows down and everything around you feels big, wild, and alive. The landscape shifts beautifully between towering redwoods and rugged ocean cliffs, creating a perfect blend of forest magic and coastal drama. This area suits couples who love nature, who value presence over perfection, and who feel most themselves in quiet, scenic spaces. There are accessible ceremony locations for small celebrations with guests, as well as more adventurous spots that require a bit of hiking, so comfortable shoes are always a good idea — especially if you’re drawn to the more hidden, dramatic viewpoints.

If you elope in April (like when we visited), temperatures are comfortable during the day. Layers help, and your photographer (oh hi, it’s me 🥰) usually keeps clear umbrellas on hand — just in case.

Travel Tips

Find a flight closer than Portland if you can — Portland to Brookings was a long, long drive (about 5 hours). Look into airports nearer southern Oregon or northern California for easier travel such as Medford Airport, or Eugene Airport.

Stay near the Redwoods or coast — our Airbnb near the trees was incredible and felt like waking up inside a fairytale. We stayed in this Airbnb here. It truly was the best! It was close enough to Brookings, very close to the Redwoods, and so quiet and peaceful. I would highly recommend staying at one of their plenty cabins. If you’d prefer something else, you can always reach out – I have plenty of great option ideas for Airbnbs in the area!

Off-season = quiet — many food spots had limited hours in April, making it peaceful and slow, which we kind of loved. Most places were only open for a short while during the daytime, but it was not too populated with other tourists, or large groups of people.

Who This Experience Is Perfect For

Couples who are…

• laid-back + go-with-the-flow
• drawn to nature, trees, and quiet spaces
• adventurous but not rushed
• happy with windblown hair + real moments
• more about emotion than perfection

If you read that list and felt a little spark — this place might be exactly where your story belongs.
